The Sunshine Coast Concert Band are a local voluntary concert band that has been performing since 1995 under the direction of Ken Chadwick (OAM).
We combine a love of music with raising much needed funds for local charities through our concerts. We also run three dances a year.
Concert proceeds are for Nambour Special School, Coolum Chaplaincy, Sunshine Coast Community Hospice, Cittamani, Hear and Say Centre, Blue Care, and Legacy
The SCCB also puts on 3 dances each year to raise money for their own funds. This enables them to purchase new sheet music, repair instruments, and hire their rehearsal hall.
All of the concerts require hours of dedicated practice to achieve the harmonious results which are appreciated by thousands of locals. Rehearsals are held each Wednesday night from 7.30pm in the Kawana Community Hall.
The members come from a vast range of professions, and many are professional musicians.
However, they all participate purely for ‘the love of it’, and most of the original members still play in this harmonious, happy band.
